Orphaned and Trafficked at the age of 12, Monique fought the odds of a life ravaged by terror and exploitation every day. Her incorrigible spirit defied the expectations set for her as she escaped barefoot into a busy marketplace one day years later. Read on to understand the real challenges survivors face alone in their fight for freedom and how the church can be involved to combat trafficking all over the world. This story is the reality of thousands caught in the sex trade, but more importantly it is a story of the redemption, healing, and hope of the gospel.

Learn More About the Book

“A wounded lion is better than a dead lion. I was wounded terribly, but it’s better to roar and save my kind of deeply enslaved captives.”

“I saw death face to face, but it didn’t take me. I saw pain, yet it didn’t drain me. I saw hopelessness, but it didn’t end me, helplessness, and it didn’t lessen me. I saw betrayal from my community, it didn’t destroy me. I saw the reality of voodoo witchcraft, and it didn’t swallow me. Because the future is yet to be achieved. My voice needs to be heard. Souls need to be saved. People need to be rescued.”

Meet Monique

Monique C. Philip is a passionate advocate and budding entrepreneur. Trafficked at a young age, she now fights for the freedom of others enslaved. Monique is passionate about equipping survivors with tools for longterm freedom through business and community. She lives with her son in Europe.

“I am a product of grace because a lot died before I was born, before I was introduced into the brothel. More died during pains and initiation. Much died in the field being used by politicians, and yet I am alive to write my story.”
